Designing Semi-Structured Interviews

For this project I designed a semi-structured interview focusing on representatives of two major groups. I spoke with professionals in the commercial furniture industry as well as Agile project managers/ workers.

I designed the questions to be open around the idea of a work environment, meaning work is not restricted to traditional office spaces, but can be flexi space, home office, café styles etc.

As a designer and researcher, I made the conscious decision to specifically direct my interviewees to think about the furniture and equipment that supports their working. This helped support my intended direction and product outcome, while still being open to the varied opinions of stakeholders.

The guide I have made myself included set questions along with prompts to help direct a conversational style interview while keeping on track. It is expected that I will develop the questions over the interviews as I collect more information.
